Terrorism and Armed Violence: Conceptual Differences, Ethical Valuation and Observation of the phenomenon in Democracy, focusing on the Greek experience

Abstract: This essay examines the problem of terrorism, particularly the phenomenon of terrorism in Western democracies.

The objectives of this paper is to approach: (a) the concept of terrorism and the moral dimension of the problem, (b) the difference in the nature of armed violence in totalitarian and democratic regimes, (c) the moral impact of these operations, especially within the Greek experience.

Furthermore, attempts to clarify the terms: terrorism and terrorist act, considering that, especially nowadays, that the cultural, ideological and moral certainties, are leading many parties in conflicts and deadlocks, internationally, both the clarification of the conditions and the understanding of the intentions - motivations, and principles that define and form the basis for every ethical valuation - are imperative.
