The dissertation develops a naturalistic account of human cognition by bringing together continental and analytic approaches with contemporary theories of emergent properties. More specifically, it examines the problem of intentionality and meaning, arguing that meaning is not located in the neural substrate but emerges from the integrated system of brain, body, and world.
